    Great learning tool

Posted by Mike Worden on 31st Dec 2023

This is a great class. I never would have learned what I have learned from papers, or texts. I believe anyone can follow this class, if they pay a little attention. I have a mechanical engineering background, and am 70 years old, so if I can do it, most anyone can. Thanks for a great experience.

    Love the entire process

Posted by Tina Sjogren on 5th Nov 2020

Got the kit, including a healthy-looking colony of cells. Did the first prep and had to leave for a business trip. Returned one week later to a random bunch of panicked cells clinging to the walls. I will have to redo this but not your fault, and I love learning the process.

All You Need to Learn Human Cell Culture

Posted by Ryan Bailey on 5th Oct 2020

How else are you going to learn to work with Human Cell Culture? You're not. This is a very unique offering you won't find anywhere else. Kit contains everything you need + great support from the ODIN team. Highly recommend.

A Serious Introduction to Genetic Engineering

Posted by Dave Xanatos on 18th Nov 2019

I have been very pleased with my investment in this course and the support I have received so far. Josiah is great at taking his years of experience in this field and distilling it to some functional procedures that can help advanced beginner or intermediate students to gain working procedural knowledge of one of the most important areas of knowledge in biology - the very code of life itself. This will play an ever increasingly large role in the future of medicine, agriculture and what it means to be human. Josiah has worked closely with others and developed a course around somewhat unconventional methods that can allow people to do this work at home with a minimum of equipment that would ordinarily be prohibitively expensive or require specialized skills to build. This course is ideally suited for folks who have some basic working knowledge of molecular biology procedures and can be self-directed and disciplined in their approach to this work. This is not spoon-feeding, and you may encounter issues with contamination or culture growth that - while Dr. Zayner may be able to help you with, you should expect to do teh hard work yourself to troubleshoot and move forward. The ODIN graciously allows for these possibilities and will replace your initial cultures if they fail due to contamination, freezing during shipping, etc. All of this makes this an excellent course if you're serious about learning. The ODIN has other courses that can bring you up to speed on basic lab procedures such as pipette use, making and streaking plates, etc., that - if you're not already skilled in these areas - will bring you up to speed. Highly recommended.

    An excellent opportunity.

Posted by Kent Caldwell on 1st Nov 2019

This course is a one-of-kind opportunity for anyone to learn and actually perform Human Cell culture and engineering through concise and straightforward remote instruction. If it simply delivered on the its premise as advertised (which it does) it would be an excellent value. However, I found that it exceeded expectations in the quality of instruction delivered. Furthermore, the provider's willingness to assist learners and responsiveness to questions is beyond what I have observed in online courses offered through more traditional institutions.

    Informal and informative.

This is a weekly online class, using materials that the odin sends you. The class walks though each step, and it's pretty simple. The class involves tissue culture, which is much less forgiving than E. coli cultures !
