Current Stock:

Everything you need to run a professional genetic engineering lab - at home, in a classroom, or in a community biohackerspace.

This kit doesn't replicate a single experiment. It builds a lab.

With the base configuration you can perform bacterial transformations, run gel electrophoresis, culture and engineer multiple organism types, and work through a full range of molecular biology protocols. Add-ons extend the lab to PCR amplification, centrifugation, human cell culture, and plant transformation - putting experiments that once required a university facility within reach at home.

To offer this level of equipment at this price, we source directly from manufacturing partners and build each kit to order. Lead time is 4-6 weeks. That's the trade-off for getting a $10,000+ lab setup at a fraction of the cost.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Run bacterial transformation and CRISPR gene editing experiments
  • Perform gel electrophoresis to visualize and analyze DNA
  • Culture and engineer microorganisms across multiple protocols
  • Add PCR, centrifugation, human cell culture, and plant transformation with optional add-ons

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Core molecular biology techniques: transformation, selection, gel analysis
  • Sterile technique and microbiology fundamentals
  • DNA manipulation across a full range of standard protocols
  • How to design, run, and repeat experiments in a home or community lab setting

PERFECT FOR
Independent researchers, homeschool families building a serious long-term science program, community biology labs, and educators setting up a classroom biotech station. Also a standout gift for a deeply committed science learner.

    Genetic Kit Review

Posted by Beth Curlee on 5th Jan 2023

I got this for my son. He loves it. He has some items for a lab but this gave him everything he needs. Customer service was top notch. We will definitely shop here again.

    Home Lab Kit

Posted by Jace Lamoureux on 26th May 2022

I was quite pleased with the contents of the kit! However, if one is looking for a more serious microscope I would recommend buying one separately. The one included here will work for the experiments and courses that are a part of the kit, but not for more serious work with prokaryotic cells (not enough magnification).

    Great Supplies & Awesome People

Posted by Chris Hunter on 16th Dec 2020

Josiah & his team are awesome and the classes so far are entertaining but educational and include useful technique which I have found otherwise difficult to find. I love it! Their mission is noble too which just makes me want to deal with them more.

    Good value

Posted by Jen Huen on 7th Feb 2020

Great deal for the items in this kit: the 10k microfuge, proPCR machine (Manifest Biology), 3 pipettes, electrophoresis power source are terrific and not easy to find at this price. Gel box leaves something to be desired due to leakiness but nothing loads of glue can't fix. Blue light isn't ideal but suitable for visualization and inspired to build diy blue light box. Bacteria, plasmids, and other consumables will give me weeks of fun and entertainment. Overall, the kit is terrific for the price.

    Excellent Starter Kit

Posted by Eric KELTS on 12th Dec 2018

I received my kit a few weeks ago. It is very complete, including everything I will need to start my biohacking adventures. Consider adding the biohacker class if your skills are, ahem, a little rusty (or if your interest level outweighs your skill set) to round things out.

    Great starting kit

Posted by Unknown on 17th Aug 2016

This kit contains everything you need to get started and for less than building a OpenPCR machine yourself would cost. GET THE HEATED LID. It's worth the money just from time savings alone.
