  1. Glasses for science and for yard work!

Posted by Matt on 7th Dec 2018

I bought these to visualize DNA in agarose gels illuminated by blue LED. I usually take gel pics through one lense using my cell phone--the images are phenomenally clear! A bonus for me is that also I can wear these as safety glasses when I'm doing yard work. Everything looks so vibrant when I'm wearing these glasses!

  2. Great, fun product

These glasses open up a whole new world. I've found fluorescent proteins in a whole variety of organisms, including apples, peas, and soil bacteria.

  3. Great Limiting Range, Good Feel

Posted by Jake Palumbo on 11th Apr 2016

The glasses limit out UV very well without interfering with other bands. I use these for fluorescence studies and DNA imaging often. Better than the tech at my Uni, and only $6!

Product Description

These glass block UV and some blue light making them idea for visualizing DNA gels and fluorescence. Works like a transilluminator but instead of a plastic filter the glasses are the filter. Works great with our Gel Green DNA stain. Fluorescence works by excitation followed by emission. In the case of DNA gels the excitation wavelength is such that the glasses block out most of the light that will hide your signal that is coming from a different emission wavelength which is not blocked.

 Comes with blue LED light

How to use

  1. Put on glasses
  2. Shine a UV or blue light on gel or fluorescent material
